Running an election in a large workplace

Using the resources on this page, you will be able to hold an election at your workplace to choose a health and safety rep.
If the organisation you work for employs more than 30 people, and has done for six months, then a default system for electing health and safety reps applies under the Health and Safety in Employment Act. This system can be reviewed at any time, and a new system agreed on by workers, their unions, and the employer.
On this page you will find a sample agreement that can be used as a basis for a worker participation system.
You can also download resources to help you run an election including a H&S Rep nomination form
You can also download a notice to advertise the election in your workplace, and the forms you'll need to run the election.
